My Story

I began my journey as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in 2003, so 21 years ago now, with a degree training in Integrative Counselling. I started my own private practice in 2007.

It grew into a high street Counselling Centre with a number of therapists, http://www.oldsurgerycounselling.co.uk and it is still thriving. Meanwhile, I qualified as a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, Certified Transactional Analyst, Clinical Supervisor and EMDR practitioner. I am starting on a new journey of creating environments for learning the craft and skills of counsellling and psychotherapy. As a Sarcoma cancer survivor, I am grateful for every day and believe passionately that life is for living and enjoying NOW,  not yesterday or tomorrow.

I love to learn too. Here is the fruit salad …

After working in research for community organisations, charities and the NHS from the early 1980s to early 2000s, I retrained twenty years ago in counselling and psychotherapy. I am now a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and BACP Accredited Counsellor. I taught Counselling as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University from 2009 to 2020.

I hold an interntionally recognised qualification in Transactional Analysis (psychotherapy) and MSc in Psychotherapy, from the Berne Insititute (validated by the University of Middlesex), a degree in Integrative Counselling from the University of Middlesex (2006), and a Diploma in Clinical Supervision from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (2016).

I am trained in Imago Couples therapy and in EMDR.

I am a Welsh learner, dw i dysgu Cymraeg, and the more I learn about Welsh language and culture, the more I love it.
