Working Outdoors

The countryside surrounding Dre Isaf House is a calming, peaceful and beautiful place surrounding the river Teifi and ringed around by the Elenydd (Cambrian mountains). Stepping into the natural environment offers a break away from the stresses and problems of daily life and an opportunity to encounter something different with all five senses, awakening the ‘inner child’ to a world of curiosity, wonder and perhaps unexpected beauty.

Walking in itself can calm the body and mind, regulating heart rate, blood pressure and the nervous system. The area close to Dre Isaf is flat and easily accessible whatever your walking ability, woodlands and seashore are also within easy reach.

Dre Isaf House itself has a long history as a site for healing and restoration. Many hundreds of years ago, it was run by the Knights Hospitallers as a resting place for pilgrims on their long journey to Strata Florida Abbey, which was itself built on and around sites of earlier healing wells and sacred places, and St David’s cathedral.

It is an amazing landscape for outdoor therapy which is an immersive experience allowing us to draw on the therapeutic power of nature as (weather permitting) we work together outdoors. Sessions can confidentially take place in the field beside Dre Isaf house, which has a lily pond and a developing flower, herb and vegetable garden.
